Adult Film Star Banned from U.S. by Border Control

Canadian gay porn star Milo Miles has recently gone public regarding his ordeal at the American border at the start of this year, resulting in a 10-year ban from entering the country. He was headed to the annual GayVN Awards (a gay porn industry awards event) with six nominations under his belt. As part of the ensemble for Deeper Deep Throat (“Vol 1: Hole’s a Hole), he would win in the best oral sex scene category.

He was detained two days in a row across several hours, during which his phones were searched. According to Miles the border agents were particularly flummoxed by the medication he had on him (fiber pills and PrEP – HIV prevention medication) and asked if he was ill. There was also confusion as to why Milo was traveling with so much “gay clothing”. After a six-hour screening, evidence of Milo’s porn performances and escort work was found on his two phones. Milo illuminated the distinction between escort work and sex work for the agent to no avail. Although no evidence was found for future sex work, he was ultimately banned because of past conversations with clients on his devices. U.S. travel law prohibits anyone from entering the country with intent to engage in prostitution OR who has engaged in prostitution in the past 10 years.

Dear readers, these resources about sex work and border crossings from Maggie’s (a sex worker advocacy and support organization based in Toronto) may be helpful to some of you.
