Today, sex workers face an aggressive wave of anti-porn policy purportedly addressing online safety. Under the guise of protection, lawmakers advocate for legislative measures such as the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), state-level age-verification mandates, the Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act (SISEA), and the Survivors of Human Trafficking Fight Back Act. However, sex worker journalists argue that these laws primarily serve to further marginalize their community, disrupt their financial stability, and censor their digital presence. Through their personal narratives, they contest dominant representations of sex workers as agentless victims in the mainstream news media. Their goal is to link movements for sex workers’ rights with other social justice issues.
