A study of posts to the online incel forum www.incels.is, newly published in the Journal of Sex Research, suggests a heightened interest of this community in justifying sexual access to pubescent girls as young as 12, corresponding to what psychologists classify as hebephilia. One commonly finds messages like “get her young, before some chad her own age starts fucking her.” Characterized by grievance toward adult women for sexual rejection and highly traditional attitudes about female subservience, incel discourse places a high premium on female “purity” uncontaminated by feminist ideology. The authors state, “In the incel worldview, such ‘pure’ girls offer a perceived path to ‘ascend’ from involuntary celibacy into a state of sexual legitimacy.” Incel posters in favor of sex with minors were found to use more angry language than other incel posters.
