The Sheriff’s Department in Waco, Texas, arrested three members of the Oklahoma Predators Prevention Group after a confrontation they organized that caused a local man to be injured. This group mimics police tactics by posting fictitious profiles of underage girls and luring their victims into explicit conversations and an arranged meeting, which the group monetizes by livestreaming on social media. Two of the three vigilantes had extensive criminal records of their own. Without excusing men who seek intimate encounters with minors, we should celebrate the arrest of criminals who try to take advantage of their weakness. This activity is clearly inspired by mainstream media programs that glorify vigilantism like the cancelled “To Catch a Predator.”
