Researchers affiliated with the Kinsey Institute have published a study of 3,001 women over the age of 60 in the journal Menopause, finding that a little less than half reported masturbating within the past year, and among those, 56.4% used sex toys, mostly vibrators or dildoes; 26.2% used them almost always or always. Sex toy use is not limited to those without partners; among the women who had partnered sex (only about one-fifth of the sample), 38.7% reported using sex toys as part of the experience. Those who use sex toys frequently report almost always reaching orgasm and wanting to have more sex. Orgasming and sexual arousal are not just good for mental and emotional health, they are useful in strengthening the vaginal muscles helping with issues occurring in menopause and post menopause.
