“Chicks with dicks” is an infamous straight male sexual taste (scientifically known as gynandromorphophilia), but less explored is the corresponding phenomenon of gay men’s attraction to dudes with vaginas (androgynomorphophilia). Not all transmen are – or were – lesbian, and some identify as gay men themselves, with or without a vagina. Sometimes known as “autoandrophilia,” this identity was depicted by Maia Kobabe in their graphic memoir Genderqueer. It should not surprise us that these gay men attract other gay men. Clearly there is a lot more to sexual orientation than genitals and notions about what one can do with them. Gender presentation seems to play a significant role in many sexual subjects’ desires and identities.
