Minnesota State Senator Erin Maye Quade has introduced a bill (SF1119) to ban the distribution of deepfake apps or software that can transpose faces of real people onto nude bodies. This is the first time that legislation has attempted to penalize not only malicious users of such apps and social media companies that allow such images to be circulated, but the companies that make the apps available in the first place.
