Although trans-female athletes are a tiny group, they continue to attract an inordinate amount of attention from both trans activists and their political enemies on both the national and local levels. The Trump administration’s Department of Education Civil Rights Office has sued Minnesota for allowing trans students to compete in women’s sports, alleging that it violates their interpretation of Title IX.
Meanwhile, a state judge in New York has upheld Nassau County’s ban on trans athletes competing on women’s teams at any county-owned facility. The case was brought by a roller derby league, supported by the New York Civil Liberties Union; they plan to appeal.
