The Guttmacher Institute – a research and policy organization committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) globally – recently published a report that reviews the damage the Trump administration has wreaked thus to SRHR services and programs. It’s not just the cuts to foreign aid that are a problem, but U.S. foreign policy has been imbued with a MAGA-branded Christianity hell bent on reversing gender, sexual, and reproductive autonomy. In addition to jeopardizing reproductive justice and queer liberties, recent American politics have whittled away at cooperation between nations. Since taking office the Trump administration halted US participation in the UN Human Rights Council as well as declared its support for the Geneva Consensus Declaration, an “extreme anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ document seeking to overturn decades of well-established human rights principles that has never been formally adopted by the UN,” as described by the Guttmacher institute.
