The world is being racked at present by multiple messy global conflicts. Oh, and there’s also the
climate crisis, you know, that pesky little planetary apocalyptic predicament that probably
(definitely) trumps anything else humanity must contend with right now. But, don’t worry,
American states like Arizona and Kansas are leading the way and fighting the good
fight…against…transgender people?
After years of vetoes from Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, Republican lawmakers want
to take their anti-trans policies to the ballot box in November, and the state Senate on Monday
approved a proposal to do just that. Senate Concurrent Resolution 1006 would force public
schools to police restrooms, locker rooms and hotel accommodations during school trips to avoid
lawsuits from students who are uncomfortable sharing the same spaces with their transgender
peers.
And Kansas’ new bill – SB 244 – not only invalidates trans people’s driver’s licenses, but “bans
transgender people from using bathrooms in public buildings that match their gender identity,
and creates a sort of bounty hunter system, in which citizens can sue transgender people they
encounter in restrooms for $1,000 in damages.” This is all a distraction and a waste of time,
which is something that no one on this planet can spare.
Enough Already! Trans Distraction in Arizona and Kansas
