Spermageddon: 613 Pregnancies Later

A Quebec father (Philippe Normand) and son (Dominik Seelos) have been banned from donating any more sperm, for now, while their civil trial plays out. The plaintiff, a mother of four, claims that both men lied about how many children had been already conceived via their sperm donations. They also allegedly did not disclose their father-son relationship. Three of the plaintiff’s children were conceived using Normand’s sperm, while her fourth child was conceived using Seelos’ sperm. In justifying his decision to ban the men from donating more sperm, he cited concerns over psychological harm of the children conceived as well as the risks of incestuous blood relations between half-siblings.

It is illegal in Canada for sperm or egg donors to be compensated for their bio-materials, although they can be compensated for related expenditures such as time and transport. It’s unlikely that this father-son sperm monopoly was in it for the gas cards, so what on earth possessed them to shower their province with all that love custard? Are these men part of the pro-natalist (aka: extreme breeding) movement that Elon Musk – who thus far is the father of 14 children with four different women – has come to represent?

If you’re intrigued by this fertility fraud story my dear sexual subjects, take note that the Normand and Seelos case was the subject of the Crave miniseries Père 100 enfants (Father of 100 Children).
