This trending style of being an asshole is an interesting case study of sexual subjects taking advantage of each other in a world where artificial intelligence, virtual/digital sociality, economic crises, masculinity norms, and sexual sensitivities are creating this perfect storm of opportunity. Men seem to be increasingly targeted as victims in these schemes because it’s believed that they will be less likely to go to the authorities.
