Although it will eventually affect half the population, until recently menopause research has been minimal. Women were told menopausal symptoms were just a part of aging and to endure them. In the past few years, the demand for better care has transformed menopause care into one of the fastest-growing sectors of women’s health. The market has been flooded with new products designed to ease symptoms. Some of these products are evidence based while others have no data backing the claims. A recent article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) looks at this boom and untangles the information (and misinformation) around menopause care.
